 Extra: Red Raiders take on Longhorns

Texas Tech comes into Austin to play the top-ranked Longhorns, and the Red Raiders are going to come in with their prolific passing attack, slinging the ball all over the field.
Master Coach Pat Dye has noticed in his film study of the Red Raiders their offensive line take the widest splits he has ever seen in a passing team.
Dye said, "If Texas Tech plays those wide splits against the Longhorns, their quarterback (Hodges) will not be there the entire game. Texas' defensive linemen and linebackers are too big and fast for that type scheme. It will get their quarterback killed .... which almost happened in an earlier game I watched."
Texas Tech is averaging almost 54 points a game with nearly 575 total offensive yards per game in the Big 12 conference.
On the other hand, Texas is perched atop the Big 12 conference, with their pass defense. They have allowed their opponents just over 880 passing yards in a total of six games.
R. C. Slocum, another Master Coach, who has studied the Red Raiders over the course of the season, feels Texas better be up by a bunch of points in the 4th quarter or Texas Tech will stage a comeback.
Slocum said, "the Texas defensive line will be pass rushing nearly every play of the game, and they will be dead tired in the fourth quarter. The (Texas) defensive backs will be tired and a step slow. On the other hand, Texas Tech will be invigorated because they know their style works to their advantage late in the game."
The Texas Tech offense will be severely tested by the Longhorn defense. One thing for sure.... Texas offense will need to score. It should be a high scoring game with the Longhorn's depth on both sides of the ball eventually taking over and helping determine the outcome of the game.
The eaiser schedule played by the Red Raiders will prove to be the difference.... the Longhorns will outscore Texas Tech, with Texas QB, Vince Young, leading the way.
