In 1968, Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes called for a two-point conversion, after scoring a late touchdown that put Ohio State ahead 48-14. Asked afterward why his team went for two in an obvious blowout, Hayes replied: "Because I couldn't go for three."
The next season, Michigan coach Bo Schembechler, a former assistant coach for Hayes, distributed No. 50 jerseys to everybody on the Wolverines scout team.
As you probably guessed.... Michigan won the rematch, 24-12.
