Led the Bulldogs to 20 postseason bowl appearances, including a 17-10 victory over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl that clinched Georgia's first national title since 1942
Won 201 games and six SEC championships during his 25-year tenure (1964-88) as head coach at UGA, suffering only one losing season during that timeframe
At the time of his retirement, was ranked third in wins among active coaches
Named NCAA National Coach of the Year in 1980 and 1982
A seven-time SEC Coach of the Year honoree
Received 2001 Amos Alonzo Stagg Award from the American Football Coaches Association for lifetime contributions to the sport of football
Inducted into College Football Hall of Fame in 1994
