Led the Hoosiers to six bowl games in eight seasons, including victories in the 1988 Liberty Bowl and the 1991 Cooper Bowl
In 1987, he led the Hoosiers to an 8-4 record, a second-place finish in the Big Ten and a Peach Bowl appearance
Inducted into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2002
